Local Missions

We have many local mission opportunities available for you to be a part of.  Look at the list below and pray about where God is calling you serve.

Apartment Complex Ministry

Minister to the residents of  Settlers’ Cove Apartment Complex.  There are open opportunities for you to lead Bible study classes for all ages, teach other classes of interest to residents, host movie nights and game days, and participate in cookouts, backyard Bible clubs,  and other outreach events.

Boys' Haven

We have opportunities for your Connection Groups to organize cookouts, sports, and games with the boys here.  Opportunities also exist to provide after school homework help. Service projects are also needed at times.

Buckner

Partner with Buckner Children and Family Services as they work to transform the lives of vulnerable children and build strong families through Christ-centered values.  There are many volunteer opportunities available such as tutoring, party planning, clerical help, providing Christmas gifts for a child, and much more.

Christian Women’s Job Corps

You will have the opportunity to serve as a mentor or teach classes as area women seek to improve their life situations through Bible study and job skill training.

Hope Women’s Resource Center

Help guide local women through unplanned pregnancies as a Bible study facilitator or counselor.  Your connection group can also help organize and host baby showers, help with or participate in the Mother’s Day Walk for Life, and more.

Hospital Ministry

Assemble and deliver bags containing snacks, gifts, Bibles, and other literature to patients and families at Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital.  This is a very fulfilling ministry as you are able to pray with and minister to people in some very trying moments in their lives.

Operation Christmas Child

Calvary is a regional collection center for the Samaritan’s Purse Shoebox ministry.  Volunteers are needed for one week in November as we collect shoeboxes and prepare them for shipment.

Outreach Port Arthur

Work with SBTC missionary, Brent Sorrels, as we minister to the Vietnamese and Hispanic communities of Port Arthur through surveying, Gospel distribution, cookouts, and grocery giveaways.  We currently schedule 2 one week-long ministry projects per year, and can also facilitate shorter projects for your Connection Groups.

Prison Ministry

Minister to inmates of our local state and federal correctional facilities through weekly Bible studies, showing our Pastor’s sermons, movie nights, worship services, and annual Christmas card distribution.  Training and orientation are required for some facilities.

Operation Street Light

Operation Street Light is where Matthew 28:19-20 and October 31st intersect in you neighborhood.  This is an opportunity to share the gospel each year on Halloween to families in your neighborhood from your own driveway.  We provide materials for you to hand out that include the gospel message and more information about Calvary.
